ABOUT UNIVERSAL CHORAL

Universal Choral Organization was borne out of love for music, and out of recognition that music is an integral part of human existence and a very important unifying force for our existence.

In a world where proliferation of nuclear weapons is gaining prominence, that lives with the expansion of acts terrorism and political insurgences, and that abuses the environment, choral singing is one of the most powerful unifying forces between nations. Differences in culture, political ideology, race and language disappear when people sing together. Literally, they merge as one voice to become part of a global family.

Choral Music has also been recognized to be a force that brings us closer to our creator, it forms an inherent part of our worship to God. People join voices to worship and give praises to God disregarding their differences, color and cultural background.

In essence, Universal Choral Organization was established to promote, encourage and promote choral, musical and dance performances among Children, Adolescent, Adults, Professionals and religious groups. This is achieved by organizing Regional and National Choral Musical and Dance Competitions to prepare them for International Choral Musical and Dance Competitions where Nigeria has not been a part of for years.

Many Choral Musical and Dance Competitions are organized every year globally, and for many years Nigeria has not been involved in any of these Competitions, in order to make Nigeria become actively involved in those Competitions, Universal Choral Organization is already affiliated to many International Choral Musical and Dance Organizations for the promotion of Choral Music in Nigeria.

Some of these organizations are: International Federation for Choral Music (IFCM), International Music Council (ICM), International Society for Music Education (ISME), The Contemporary A Cappella Society (CASA), International Dance Council (CID), Conductors Guild and others.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

The aims and objectives of the Universal Choral Organization are:

i. To encourage and promote Choral Musical and Dance performances at Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Education Levels in Nigeria and beyond.

ii. To work actively towards the encouragement, development and promotion of all facets of music performances especially the vocal art.
