Amongst present-day choirs, no idea has had such an effective and long-term success as the ancient Olympic Idea of peaceful competition and bringing together the peoples of the world applied to today’s international choir movement. Since the Choir Olympic Bell has called the choirs of the nations together to the first Choir Olympics in Linz in the year 2000, these major cultural events have decisively changed the international choral world.

So far over 90 nations, thousands of choirs and hundreds of thousands of singers have made the Choir Olympic Idea -“participation is the highest honour” – their own. This idea grows from year to year, fascinating governments and politicians just as much as choral associations, institutions and cities – and most of all choirs, conductors and choral singers, of course.

The success story of the Choir Olympics will find its worthy continuation in Graz.

Universal Choral Organization, will be leading Lagos City Chorale Group to this years' World Choir Games, to represent Nigeria in the World Choir Games.

LAGOS CITY CHORALE

The Lagos City Chorale was founded in Febuary 1988 by Senetor Lere Adesina (Late) and Emeka Nwokedi, the Musical Director and Conductor with a view of raising a high standard Choir that is capable of singing and interpreing serious choral master pieces, such as Oratorios, Masses, Operas as well as African and Nigerian Indigenous Choral music. It also aim at:

Training young voices to attain high standard in solo Choral Singing.
To give Chorale Music Concert of sufficiently high standard in Lagos, Abuja and others parts of Nigeria
To render high standard Chorale Music at State function Such as National day Celebrations and International events.
To sing ar functions such as wedding, funerals, birthday etc.
To sing at International Choral Festival and Chorale Competitions.
